The Retas Awards are a celebration of the best of greeting card retailing and the finalists have been announced!

Across 22 categories covering from the tiniest independent, through small chains and bookshops, garden centres, supermarkets, and up to the biggest multiples, everyone who sells cards is included in these annual awards celebrating the best of greeting card retailing.

Among the shortlist are many retailers who also have extensive stationery offerings too including Creative Cove, Austin & Co, Stationery Supplies, Paper Tiger, Spirals Cards, Gifts and Stationery, The Loft, Pretty Shiny Shop and Chapmans of Southwold to name a few.

Sandra Jervis, owner of Creative Cove in Lampeter, won the Best Independent Retailer in Wales last year told her Facebook followers: “I am a finalist for the Retas, second year running! Absolutely honoured that people think enough of me and what I do to have put me forward. I am truly grateful. Thank you. Also, a huge thank you to all you wonderful customers who keep buying and keep coming back. And another thank you to my staff, especially when you have deliveries to unpack, stock rooms to reorganise, displays to magic up and really weird photography requests.”

“Goodness me what a fabulous community of greeting card retailers we as an industry have,” commented Jakki Brown, managing director and co-owner of Max Publishing, which owns and organises The Retas. “The last year especially has seen them pull out the stops, with their product selections, engagement with customers, store environments and initiative galore.

“The Retas 2024 finalists’ roll call exudes excellence right across the spectrum, thanks to the huge input from publishers, reps and agents the number of nominations for this year’s awards was off the scale, while more retailers than ever took the time and trouble to submit their store’s entry.”

The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on July 4, taking place in the ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, which this year will take on a World Of Beatrix Potter theme.
