Top Drawer Was A Top Show

With the Spring/Summer edition of Top Drawer London now finished, exhibitors and buyers are thrilled with the success of the show.

Top Drawer Spring/Summer at London’s Olympia earlier this week (12-14 January) featured over 600 design-led brands showcasing more than 25,000 products.

Sam Smith, founder of Hello Time was a first-timer at the show with Hello Time’s range of luxury planners and stationery and said “Being at Top Drawer London has been hugely beneficial for my brand in building the awareness of our products and their benefits. It’s been a pleasure to meet so many lovely shop owners and buyers over the three days.”

Another first-timer was Rebel Stationery, with its range of sustainable notebooks, planners and diaries, as well as the first-look at its first textile collection. George Thompson, art director commented: “Rebel Stationery had such an amazing Top Drawer. The enthusiasm from buyers and stationery addicts alike has been very exciting. Debuting our new Awamaki textile collection has been a huge success. Proving that you can make beautiful products in the UK while supporting women working in the global textile trade and paying them fairly for their work feels like a real win. We’re excited to see where Rebel goes next and can’t wait to see our products in shops around the country in the coming months.”

Yop & Tom showcased its new spring collection, including gardening journals, recipe books, and reading journals. Co-founder, Joppe Coelingh Bennink said: “Buyers were especially drawn to the fun and exciting designs and vibrant colours in the range, which received an overwhelmingly positive response. Many retailers placed orders to restock their shelves after Christmas, ensuring they’re ready for spring and Mother’s Day shoppers.”

StationeryNews managed to catch up with Mark Callaby, managing director of Ohh Deer just before his flight took off from Heathrow to the States for his next trade show, Atlanta Market. “Top Drawer went really well for us. It was our first showing of our new licences and they’ve been a complete hit. Especially the new V&A stationery and NHM cards. We’re very happy even though we had a hiccup at the start of the show with someone knocking over our card walls and setting us back four hours!”

It was the Ohh Deer V&A stationery that caught the eye of retailer Sandra Jervis from Creative Cover in Lampeter who loved the show. “I went with no actual plans and then absolutely splashed out on notebooks. The Art File and Ohh Deer both have an incredible amount of new offerings. I accidentally bought a whole spinner of postcards from Ohh Deer as well. I fell in love with them. I don’t think I’ve been as excited about a new product as much as I was about those in a long time!”
