World Calligraphy Day Ends On A High At Fortnum & Mason

Manuscript Pen’s week-long event to celebrate calligraphy was the most successful event yet, with hundreds of creatives and calligraphers all over the world getting involved, and included two special in-person events at John Lewis Oxford Street and Fortnum & Mason.

Manuscript Pen Co launched World Calligraphy Day in 2017 as a celebration of the wonderful art of calligraphy, and the event is now so popular that it spans an entire week. Starting on 9 August with an in-person demo with calligrapher and lettering artist, Lucy Khanam at John Lewis Oxford Street, the week ended on a high with another product demo at Fortnum & Mason on 16 August (the actual date of World Calligraphy Day) by Lyndsey Gribble from Wild Sea Calligraphy.

“We had a great turnout for our pop-up personalised calligraphy experiences, with Lucy Khanam at John Lewis Oxford Street and Lyndsey Gribble at Fortnum & Mason,” said Corin Ryalls-Garbett, marketing executive at Manuscript Pen Co. “Many attendees discovered calligraphy for the first time, and feeling inspired, began their own journey as they picked up a Manuscript set in store.”

Over the week, Manuscript facilitated an online World Calligraphy Day challenge, with hundreds of creatives and calligraphers all over the world getting involved. “Our five specially selected hosts – @raghu.calligraphy, @calligraphybyrkhatri, @oliveleafcalli, @artsynibs and @byshannonlayne – each had an artist’s bundle of Manuscript products to give away for each of the five days of the challenge,” said Corin. “It truly was an international celebration of calligraphy, and a beautiful way to celebrate the wonderful community on socials, that share their passion for lettering every day.”

If that wasn’t enough excitement for one week, Manuscript Pen Co also celebrated the grand opening of its new showroom at the company’s head office, factory and warehouse in Shropshire, with Manuscript staff and their families in attendance, as well as key UK customers from Ryman, Cult Pens and Pilotfish. Attendees at the event also got a first look at Manuscript’s newest brand, Tom Hessin, a luxury brand celebrating five generations in the pen industry.
