Rebel Stationery Co-founders Become Members Of The Stationers’ Company

George Thompson and Bex Newell became freemen of The Stationer’s Company on Monday (17 June).

The Stationers’ Company in the City of London represents the communications, content, print and stationery industries, and is a wonderful representation of old traditions moving into the future.

Founded over 600 years ago, with merchants selling their wares from ‘stations’ in the shadows of St. Paul’s Cathedral, this is where the beginnings of ‘stationery’ were formed.

George Thompson and Bex Newell, alongside Annie Couldrey (who is already a freeman of The Stationers’ Company), are the founders of Rebel Stationery, a new luxury diary and notebook brand with giving back at its heart. As well as a focus on selecting manufacturing partnerships with a proven record of innovation, quality and environmental responsibility, the company gives a percentage of our profits go to charities that promote fair living and working conditions

Bex said it is “truly incredible to become a Stationer. To be a part of an institution with such a rich history is exciting as there’s just so much to learn. I love the company’s emphasis on education and learning, and I relish the volunteering opportunities available to help inspire the next generation of stationers.”

George added: “I’m so enthusiastic about getting involved at The Stationers. They do such phenomenal work within our community. I’m already speaking to other members about running workshops so people can learn more about the industry. In terms of our brand Rebel, we have made lots  of new contacts that mean our business can be even more sustainable, globally conscious and innovative. It’s a really exciting time.”
